Gender-parity and Family-friendly Measures19 Aug, 2017

The Council has recently endorsed the University's initiative to foster a fair, diverse, and supportive work culture regardless of gender and family status.  Ten of the gender-parity and family-friendly measures have become effective now.  Please see http://intraweb.hku.hk/local/hr/pu/20170817-1.pdf or Human Resource Section's webpage (http://www.hr.hku.hk/ > Announcements) for more details.

While some of the measures apply primarily to specific groups of staff, the Leave for primary caretaking could apply to all. Up to five days per year will be provided to those who have exhausted the accumulated annual leave (i.e. full year entitlement plus carried forward leave) for the purpose of taking care the illness of an immediate family member or the needs of a child with clinically significant developmental concerns.  Applications endorsed by the Head of Department will need to be submitted with supporting documents to the Human Resource Section for processing.

Please feel free to contact the Office of Vice President (Academic Staffing & Resources) (
vpasro@hku.hk) or Human Resource Section (hrpu@hku.hk) if you have any enquiries.
