Flexible Working Hours Arrangement04 Sep, 2012

Message from Deputy Vice-Chancellor

In view of the fact that there will be more than 6,000 freshmen entering the University as from the start of the new semester on September 17, 2012, departments are strongly encouraged to consider introducing flexible working hours scheme for their staff, as a temporary contingency measure during the period, say, from September 12 to mid-October, in order to ease the pressure on transportation during the peak period in the morning.

In implementing such temporary measures, please ensure that the total contractual working hours of the staff are maintained and that proper records are kept for compliance and future reference. If your department has already been operating on a flexible-hours system, please take this opportunity to review the arrangement to see if further changes are required in light of the new circumstances. This flexi-arrangement also applies to the lunch break for staff, as we anticipate an increased demand on the catering facilities on the campus and the nearby areas during the peak hour between 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

We will review the need of further extending this temporary measure by mid October, 2012. Please do not hesitate to contact Human Resources section of the Registry should you require any assistance on the above.
